Volvo Penta D1-13 is an in-line 2-cylinder, 0.5-liter, naturally aspirated diesel engine using a camdriven, in-line injection pump, and freshwater cooling. With low cruising rpm, the engine runs quietly with minimal vibrations.
High-capacity charging is standard and higher battery capacity is enabled with the electronic sensor on the 115A alternator.
The engine is fitted with fresh water cooling which reduces corrosion, enabling the engine to maintain a consistent and optimal working temperature under all conditions.

Engine block and head
- Cylinder block and cylinder head manufac-tured from high grade cast iron. Crankcase features a rigid tunnel block design.
- Chrome molybdenum forged crankshaft, statically and dynamically balanced with in-tegral counterweights. Pistons are cast from high silicon aluminum, are heat treated and fitted with two cast iron, chromium faced compression rings and a single oil ring.
